Default I'm finally tuned!! just in time for NOPI! 317hp @12psi, LS/Vtec Turbo

Tuning was done by Anthony (PrecisionH23a on H-T) in Charleston, SC today at GSC Motorsports. I went in with an Uberdata basemap, but since Uberdata sucks *** I went with Hondata and my car has never run better, yes even when it was stock and no I'm not kidding. He did a great job tuning it, and it could have made more power if I had bigger injectors cause they were at almost 100% duty cycle on a few pulls. He also raised the VTEC point to 6000, cause the power was dropping off at 5500 when it was there. Oh well, this is plenty for now... but I will be back up there soon with a bigger turbo and injectors-- with about 450 in my sights

The Setup: LS/VTEC Turbo (B18B1 block, B18C5 head), 8.5:1 SRP pistons, Eagle rods, block guard, Golden Eagle head studs, TOGA rod bearings, OEM honda headgasket, MSD SCI ingition w/ blaster coil, custom log turbo maniold, Garret T3/T04E .48 exh./.60 turbine, full 3" downpipe and exhaust, Tial 38mm, Edelbrock Victor X IM, LS TB, Apexi BOV, Greddy Profec B Spec II @12psi, LS tranny, Exedy 3 puck clutch, DSM 450's....

Thanks everybody, I've only ran at a really shitty 1/8th mile track, but that was with my LS Turbo @10psi and my best time was a 8.9 with like a 2.2 60'. That was with 17's and some Kuhmo 712's which dont get traction for ****. Im not running at that track again cause it messes up your car, and the closest 1/4 mile is 2hrs away. I need to get a better suspension, motor mounts and traction bars before I get any really good #'s.

Messes your car up? Isn't that whay you build a big hp car?
Any rate, good numbers
My friend has an '01 GSR turbo, and 1BAR boost, ran a 13.1 @ 108 on 18s.. Inline Pro-built motor.. I think he laid down 352 @ whls on 12psi boost.

The track im talking about messes up your car because its so horribly shitty--I mean theres like 3 foot deep potholes in the return lane, the parking lot is dirt, they NDRA even shut it down and told them they had to redo the whole thing a few years ago. I wouldnt mind running at any other track, but they are just too far away.

Congrats! Anthony was telling me last night he had to tune this hehe. One thing though, what do you plan on revving your motor to? If you are only planning 8k that Edelbrock mani may not be your best bet, a Skunk2, Blox, ITR mani would do better with just up to 8k rpms, the Edelbrock is designed for 7k to 10k just FYI.

I dont have money for a new intake manifold, I got a good deal on this one, thats why I got it. I think I cracked a pison ring or something in there this weekend at NOPI, cause its smoking like a bitch now, and it just pours out smoke like a chimney when I get on it at all. Im gonna do a compression test, I hope its just my turbo.... We'll see.

The car was smoking really bad when it was on the dyno as well before I took her into boost as well. Jason, did you mess with your boost controller by any chance? I know you called me the other day saying it was cutting off which was because I put a 14psi boost cut on it... even if you did up the boost the car was tuned to the next table over conservatively but doing so would easily make you run lean since your injectors were maxed out at 12-13psi.

You may want to check your turbo like john told you after you do a compression test.

After I talked to you Friday I turned the BC down a little, and it never went over 12psi. You were right, it was hitting the boost cut every time I was flooring it, but it was fine for the rest of the weekend after I turned it down. It was smoking a little all weekend, but that is normal. Sunday after I left the track it just started dumping out a smokescreen behing me when I would go above like 50% throttle. I just hope its the turbo, cause I dont have the money to fix anything else now.
How do I check and see if its the turbo, do I see if theres oil in the charge pipes?? It doesnt smoke at all at idle, but after I rev it up and the rpms go back down--- then it starts smoking after its idling then. This is really gay.

hey whatsup nice setup, i am new to honda tech and would like to know at least how much power i am putting out from my car. i have a fully ported and polisehed head with valves, retainers, springs, i also have a block guard, with turbo pistons with a compression of about 8.4:1 stock rods, oem bearing, turbo headgasket, walboro 255 in the tank, 440 cc injectors, bulit OBD O ecu, or by the way it is a B16 Head on an ls block, oil pumps and all that good stuff are upgraded and a super T4 compressor housing with a custom built T3 back housing with 2.25 inch piping for the turbo and a 3' open downpipe pushing at least 15 psi. Can you give me an average here i would jus like to know and if you do not know can you find out for me. thank you this would be greatly appreciated.

Too many variable to accurately 'guess' what hp you are making.. Dyno is the best answer..
t3/t4 @ 15psi on 440s? Hmm... I'd bet you are lean, are getting close to being so..
3" open downpipe? Like, as in, "no exhaust"?
Guess: 250-270whp

Did you gap the rings when you installed them? Honestly I think the problem here is because you boosted the car several times on a stock uberdata map.

Let me know what you find out.

Well shitttt--- I got home from school today, yes I am driving it cause its the only car I have, I didnt boost AT ALL the whole time, only like a 7 min. drive. I got home and like usual theres smoke pouring out from the cracks around the hood, so when I open the hood the smokes not coming from the breather filter like I thought--its coming from the center section of the turbo. I remember something sounding like it fell out from under my car, but I stopped and couldnt find anything missing-- it turns out it was one of the "C" things and the bolts that hold it in form the exhaust side of it. So I think my turbos shot.
I also did a compression test (starting with #1)-- 175, 165, 180, 175. Is cylinder 2 too low?? Or is it just my turbo thats causing all the smoke out of the exhaust? It didnt smoke at all today on the way home, and I didnt boost at all.. thats a weird coincidence isnt it?

The compression test sounds fine. A leakdown test will tell you more though...

I would get a new turbo and go from there. Also get rid of that -4an line like John was telling you and go with a -3an.

yeah im gonna get that oil line ASAP, what size turbo should I get. I want to get the same style so I can use the same DP, but its hard to find a good one with a 4 bolt DP flange.
