Cobalt Spec VR vs. Spec B
I asked this question in another thread, which was silly. I'm curious about the differences between these two compounds and a comparison if anybody has tracked both. I know many ITR owners use the Spec VRs but have not heard of many using the Bs...
Haven't tracked both (only VRs) but from the spec sheet and price point, why bother going to Spec Bs? For track duty, it seems like the VRs are the clear winner if you don't mind changing pads from street to track.
I've run both, the VR's have a higher temp rating but honestly I couldn't see the difference. My opinion will be totally different from others though, it's all preference and how you use the brakes

The funny thing is I was purchasing a set of new rears from Cobalt a few months ago and I asked them which would be the better choice in the rear while running VRs up front - and they told me the GT Sports. So I bought them.

Andie had told me the same thing VRs in front and GT sport in the rear.
And the car feels great, As for being a lazy bastard that I am the pads are still in there from early spring
and don't show much wear...

Yeah, Andie said the same thing when I talked to him.
But their literature does suggest the Spec B's for IT type cars.
I guess it depends on just how much you "push" it!

Pad wear or rotor wear? My rotors got real gnarly after running VRs in the winter. Yeah, I know ... I was a REAL lazy bastard.

The VR's are significantly kinder to rotors when on street and cold than Hawk Blues.
VR's front and Sports rear here for the past 3 seasons and extremely satisfied.
IIRC George also uses the VR's front and Spec B's rear.

spec V's R= compound tire must.
Spec Bs = will be fine on a street tire.
i run GT sport in rear and lock up the rear on occasion, although i dont consider this an issue. I would be interested in running Bs in rear for curiosity sake, but i must say , im quite happy with the setup i have. ( vr- front GT - rear)

Same here, but I've only driven it about 300 miles since Expo. VR's in the front on my car with GT's in the back.
