"Off the shelf project"...222whp 155wtq....Inline Racing
Recently we started a project that we call "off the shelf." The idea behind this project was very specific. We aimed to build an all motor car, using all off the shelf parts, no custom fabrication, and pump gas. This car retains full interior and glass.
SPECS:
Sleeved B18c block
LS crank
86mm Supertech 12:1 pistons/rings
Scat rods
Inline Racing port/polish B16 head
Supertech dual valve springs and titanium retainers
Blox HSL cams
JG Edelbrock intake manifold
70mm throttle body
Peak Performance cam gears
Peak Performance 2.5" collector header
RC 440cc injectors
The car made 222whp on a dynojet dyno. We were pretty happy with the results although we were looking for slightly more power. We will take the car out to the track soon to put it to the test.
take a look...

yes nice numbers and post up a timeslip so we know what it runs!

how big are the slicks?

the slicks in the picture are 24.5"...we have another set of wheels with 22" slicks mounted on them. We will most likely run this car on the 22".

yeah, same car. The car won't leave us, so we just make it a test mule for different things, but the off the shelf project was the original idea we had in mind when we got this car. Two weeks ago this car was a 520whp turbo car.

Ehh, how the hell is a sleeved block not custom fabrication? Sleeves are anything but "off the shelf." A port and polish is also not an "off the shelf" item.
Other than that. Very nice numbers and that car is soooo damn CLEAN!

I understand why some people might think that the block and head are not off the shelf, but a sleeved block and port and polished head would be part of a "built motor" and are fairly common. I don't consider these two things to be custom fabrication because anybody who wants a sleeved block and ported head can just go get one. My definition of custom fabrication would be parts that we made, such as a custom sheet metal intake manifold, or side exit step header etc...things that are not readily available to everyone...

yeah, we drive it on the streets. The solid mounts make the car vibrate a bit, but its not unbearable. Feels like running poly mounts all the way around.
thanks for the props guys! Should have some time slips up soon!

very nice..
You guys aren't running a crank case breather,or is just not pictured?
What traction bars are those?

I like that custom driver side solid mount you got there
That motor is making some really good power
Congrats to the guys at Inline Racing

Looks more like a strip kind of car to me.
Thanks for posting your stuff!

to answer some questions....
...no crank case breather on the car right now.
...the traction bars are competition engineereing (I believe)
...the suspension is Progress coilovers
...it does look like a strip car, but that is only because i posted pictures with slicks, but the car normally runs around on Spoon wheels and even has ITR seats front and rear
thanks again for the props. with any luck we will hit up the track tonight.

Yeah, we took the car out to the track this past friday night and ran a 12.80 @ 105 with a 1.8 60'. We wern't able to cut the 1.6s that we wanted due to our slicks not getting sticky, but we weren't entirely disappointed. We had planned on taking it out again this friday night with a new set of slicks we have on the shelf, but it looks like hurricane Rita has different plans for us.
I know the car will do a 12.4-12.5 with some 1.6s. We will have the car out there again as soon as weather permits it. So far, this setup only has two runs on it.
The other day we put the car on the dyno for some tweaking...(after the track)...
and we squeezed out 225whp and 155wtq. The car is still on pump gas with full interior and no changes to the setup as listed previously. I will update!
