Default ys1 and s1 tranny question

im looking to get a b16 tranny but im kinda lost. now after looking on the allmotorhonda website the ys1 and the s1 pretty much have the same gear ratio. Now what i am looking for is a shorter gear ratio then my b18 tranny so what tranny am i to look for?

thanx

90-91 integras have a1 or s1=long gears. 92-93 integras have ys1, however the 92-93 gsr tranny is the one you want. The 92-93 gsr tranny is stamped ys1 just like the long geared 92-93 integra rs/ls/gs. So beware if your buying one, I don't think there is a way to tell which is which unless you take apart the tranny and count teeth or drive it. Btw, not stamped but there is a sticker that reads the tranny code, if it's still there. You can also opt for a jdm b16 cable tranny: which include the y1, j1, and another one I can't recall. Check out this website its very helpful, shows you the differences in mph b/w gears for numerous honda trannies: http://www.fatboyraceworks.com/gears/

One advantage of the JDM S1 over the JDM YS1, is that the casing for the S1 is smaller.

i heard though that if you get a jdm s1, its next to impossible to find any parts to rebuild. whereas the ys1 you can use hydro gears from us gs-r 95 and up. just my .02 to help you locate the bst trans.
