Look what i found (pics)
It is a theft recovery and the thieves did not remove anything except the interior. they replaced the seats and door panels from another Type R with only 25,000 miles. The car does have a couple of door dings and scratches but is in excellent orignal condition and has never had any paint work.

It's my understanding that replacing the complete interior with new items from Acura parts dept. can run into thousands $$$ .. approaching 10 grand. Someone correct me if I'm off.

i know how much it cost, but i wouldnt total an ITR with just interior pieces missing, **** hungster's R if im not mistaken, had to been in a accident and had inetrior pieces stolen before the title was salvaged. also i am an adjuster and thats not a big enough reason for me to total a car
import auto salvage is a good place though

No you are wrong, insurance companies will total out or put a salvage title if the car has a $ total loss of so much. Type R seats front back, panels and everything is way over what we would pay. The insurance is not willing to lose money. It is cheaper for them to claim total loss and pay off the owner, then to replace the missing parts. It would of come up to at least 10g for them to replace the interior including labor. They want to make money not lose it.
Maybe it doesnt have to do with replacing seats at all? Owner finds his car missing so he calls cops and insurance company. 1 week goes by and the insurance company just pays him the value of the car and owner goes on merry way to buy another car.
When stolen car is found by cops its surrendered to the insurance adjuster on behalf of the company. They auction it off or sell to recoup losses of paying out to policy holder.
That sounds better to me...
Anyhoo that R looks like a nice car. Risk insurance company wanting to give you $5k because of the salvage title if it ever comes up stolen? Willint to take a $8k loss?
Much risky bizness...

yeah that % is 70%, that is not 70% of the value of the car, once again I am a claims adjuster for an insurance company 10g's is a lot cheapier than 16k, i dunno who you work for but you guys lose a lot of money then
but out of whats stolen most i would say would be seats and door panels/gauge cluster (maybe)..IMO thats worth at max 5-7k

Yeah, but now go include broken windows, wiring harness from it being cut, etc.
From what I recall, the ENTIRE ITR interior (by that I mean everything inside the car) is quite a bit over 10k.
It really depends on what was taken, but this wont be the first, nor the last, ITR totalled out for a missing interior.

some insurance companies also consider a car a total loss if its missing for so many days. back in the day we used to buy IROC's with missing stereos from the salvage auction because they were missing more than 30 days.
