Intake manifold removal on 97 SH
I searched to see if someone answered my question and i haven't found the answer. Basically my car has been in the shop for some time now with an oscillating idle. The shop said they checked everything and have determined it must be a crack in the intake manifold (i have turbo and the motor was blown, thats why it was in the shop in the first place). anyways, they wanted to charge me like $600 to do the intake manifold because they said the ATTS box had to be removed in order to get the intake manifold off. I am not sure about that, and can't really afford to pay that much. So, my question is, is it really that hard to replace the intake manifold? and would i have to take the ATTS box out to do it? thanks.
Intake manifold can easiliy be removed w/o removing ATTS. I've done it twice now and can get start to finish in about 2 hours. All you need to have is a few 6" and 3" ratchet extensions and a box wrench. If you have that, you can get the manifold off.
awesome, do you think you could give me a few tips on how to do it? is there any particular procedure that needs to be followed? i was going to buy a service manual, is the procedure in there the same that you used?
i havent done this exactly but honda is pretty consistent.
with the breather pipe off you should be able to stick you hand under it. there are 2 12mm bolts that go up though a bracket into the mani.
from there its just getting the head side nuts and the hoses as you find them
