I would think you are hearing stuff like the tranny/diff whining, and some rattling of the soft top parts inside, which is normal.
Not sure what the noise from the front of the soft top could be? I have never heard that. The tranny/diff is loud enough as it is.

turn the radio up? crap, you mean I gotta put it back in now?
to answer the original poster - the car is a convertible, it is a sports car, but more than that, it isn't a lincoln town car where certain noise dampening materials were added under the body or in the cabin to absorb those sounds.

Your softtop strikers might be worn out. Try replacing them with hardtop strikers

Wind Noise or Rattle at the Convertible Top
SYMPTOM
Wind noise or rattling between the convertible top and
the frame.
PROBABLE CAUSE
The convertible top is not held tightly against the
windshield frame because the convertible top strikers
are worn.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
Replace the convertible top strikers with hardtop
strikers.

I did'nt read the entire thread but this part gave me the impression that his strikers might be worn.

S2k's do come stock with HID's, but im not sure if you can just replace the bulbs for some of higher temp's. I think you can *shrugs shoulder*
Using higher temp bulbs does'nt mean they will be brighter. I believe it only affects the color.
Stock ap bulbs are perfect imo...<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by typeRkill »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">

It's the opposite, actually. ~4200k is the brightest(which comes on stock). The higher you go, the dimmer the light will seem. 8000k will look like you've got a couple of flashlights up front. Not to mention, it'll emit a ghey blue-purple beam. If you get anything in the 8000k range, by law, I believe you're required to get yellow fogs and matching ground EFX.
