I purchased the vehicle from a guy, i simply wrote him a cashier check, now the insurance is asking me for bill of sale which i don't have.

What should I do?

Also, they asked me for a copy of the title, the title said it's salvage. How does that effect the money geico's going to pay me?

Write a bill of sale.

Good luck and sorry for your loss.

I paid $14.5 k a year ago

that sucks man. what u think they will pay me?

Bill of sale, isn't that on the back of the title staying transfer from one person to another?

I only have a cashier check right now. and i probably can't get a hold of the guy.

Do you have any email correspondence with the guy that discuss sale price?
Can you get a bill of sale now?
You may get low-balled by insurance because the car is salvaged. Get AS MUCH DOCUMENTATION as possible. Even get recent sale prices of similar cars from ebay, honda-tech, etc. to show that car of similar type sells for X dollars regularly.

Oh, there is no such thing as a safe place in NJ. You can always be followed home.

Were you aware of the status of the title? I don't know Jersey laws in regards to registration, but I would think that would have sent up a red flag.

try to get a bill of sale a.s.a.p and you should be ok as far as that goes.. Your car being salvaged shouldnt really affect anything as long as the parts are legitr it will bring the value down some but not anything to cry over.. and the next step is finding the damn car someone had to see or hear something.
