skunk2 valvetrain... good or bad??
i got some skunk2 high compression valves, dual valvesprings, and titanium retainers. i heard from the grapevine that skunk2 valvetrain sucks ***. any comments on this?? thanks
It seems not many people around here run skunk2 valvetrain. There is better stuff out there but skunk2 stuff could be more than sufficient for your setup.
Things like how high you are gonna rev come into play when choosing springs. how high of rpm they are stable up to. Also things like seat and nose pressure come into play.
As for the valves I was told by a fairly reputable local shop owner that he noticed some irregularity's in skunk2's valves so he did not use them. Note that this was about 2 years ago and I did not witness this first hand.
I actually have been running all skunk2 valvetrain and cams for about 1 and 1/2 years now with no problems or signs for improper wear ect.

My friend and I both have the "old" skunk2 valvetrain that is said to break a lot. Mine has more than 20,000 miles on it, and his saw 9500rpm quite frequently for a while, neither has had any problems.
