Default Prelude Type SH

Hey my friend is looking for his first car (he is 16). He wants to get a GSR or a Si, but he thinks they are played out. So he was thinking of a Prelude Type SH. How do these cars compare to the Si ,GSR, Type R and the New RSX Type S? Why does everyone say its a heavy car?

P.S. Could someone post pics of BLACK, Silver or White Preludes. Those are the colors he likes.THANKS

Because it is damn near 3000 lbs. The SH system doesn't love boost either. It's slower than an ITR and comparable to the GSR.

and a base is damn near 3k lbs too. the ATTS weighs something like 80lbs more. the SH is still a good car, and should beat a GSR all things being equal. but just tell your bud to get a base prelude. its cheaper, and slightly quicker.

c'mon man, this isn't exactly classified information. The base Prelude and SH are the same except for some suspension tuning and the ATTS which essentially makes the SH handle like a rear-wheel driver car at the track, but has no effect in almost any road situation.

Get the SH for status, get the base model for a little more speed.

Oh yeah, I thought the ATTS was more like 150 lbs.

Correection: Get a 4G VTEC for speed. 5Gs are relatively slow.

yeah, but this guy doens't sound like he's interested in an 8 year old car. He's listed the Si, GS-R, SH and the RSX-S. Seemed to me he's looking for a relatively new car.

But you're right, if you can deal w/ the funky interior, the 4G is the way to go.

The base model has the same power, but doesn't have color-coded side skirts. It's lighter too.

Faster than the GSR, and Si
Slower than the Type R if you have equal drivers
Same with the RSX Type S...

The car's weight kills it

Performance:
Slower than Type R, but faster than a si. Depend on the driver when up against a gsr.

Looks: The lude brings home the gold

all in all, the 4th gen's entire cockpit is way better than the 5ths. way more sportscarish. the only thing funky is the dash. but thats personal preference.

when u guys say that are u talking about the base model or the SH? Allso do the Preludes come with leather or cloth interior? So if the base model is quicker than the SH why is the SH More$?

P.S. anyone have more pics of silver or black ludes?

The base model and SH are essentially the same in terms of what beats what, etc. (Especially since it's all driver anyway).
Neither Prelude comes with leather (unless you live in Canada). The differences between the SH and base are:
Base - spoiler is an option, side skirts are black vinyl, no ATTS, different shift ****.
SH - comes with spoiler, side skirts are painted, has ATTS (which transfers power to the outside wheel in a turn), different shift ****.
The SH is more money mainly because of the ATTS, which is sort of like those electronic stability programs (but not exactly)

A friend of mine who has a 98 Prelude SH had the SH kit that came with the car. Another one of my friend bought a 2000 Prelude SH, but they said the Dealer was charging him for the SH kit. He said the Kit was an option. Is that true? I thought the SH's came with the lip, and skirts? Did they stop doin that?

I heard that the ATTS system goes haywire when the ecu detects boost.
