just thought i'd tell everyone i was watching national geographic last night and "Megastructures" was on. the first one was some "Palm island" in the middle east, kind of wild..

the second program that came on was the re-model of indy speedway. including the timing tower, the new track, and all the F1 stuff.

it's kind of interesting about it all and it will definately make me appreciated all the work that went into constructing it even more-so. just wondering if anyone else caught it.

 

I too watched that - its actually one of my favorite shows on TV. Were you surprised too how the lead engineer (Kevin ??) was unaware of the finer details of the cure time for the asphalt? It makes some more sense for those tracks where the surface comes up in short time after resurfacing (Robeling Road) or where the track surface in turns gets pushed around (T12 Kershaw).

Very interesting show (as are the similar shows on Discovery Channel) - I have been trying to keep an eye for the show to see that episode on the dams in Norway (?? was that where that highly complex dam was ??).

 

i have no clue about the dams, but the palm island one was amazing!!! it just looked so cool.. hahahaaa.

and yeah, i'm surprised about the almost impossible deadlines, and the time it took for the track to cure..

 

 

I only caught the one on the palms. That was some amazing stuff. Gonna set the DVR to record all the future episodes though because it was a great show!
I always love shows like that!
