i just installed a catchcan.

actually it's like some kind of 1way relief valve from an air comressor with the arrow side pointing to the manifold. i zip tied it to an a/c line and then zip tied a strip of door stripping to pad it in case it smacks agianst the frame. i put some steel wool in the little canister.
then it ocurred to me that i dont really understand how the pcv system works, nor how the catchcan works. i get that it relieves pressure and catches oil vapors, but then what? i mean is steel wool really ok? i just put that in because i seen some other setups like that. but is it possible that some steel wool can break off and get sucked into the intake? is there another material i can put in there?

uninstall it and put it back to stock or block off the nipple on the intake manifold and route a tube from your pcv valve to a small soda bottle.
your current set up isn't a catch can at all. its more like a catch thimble.

LOL catch thimble
i realize it's small, but the principle should remain. i can always step up to a bigger canister.
i'm more concerned about the stuffing at this point. even if i get like a greddy setup, is steel wool still recommended as the filler?
