Damn I had a hard-on throughout the whole clip.

 

The only thing that could keep up was a Porcshe.....too bad no supras decided to show up.

OMG! That Z06 is CRAZY!

 

We have a Z06 here in Johnson City with a supercharger.

It only runs mid 10's on the OEM tires......10.5x@150mph.

 

For some reason I don't think most of those exotics were "really" trying to race...looked more like they were toying with the Vette.

Hmm. More than likely is that their owners can't, or won't, drive them to their full potential, even in a straight line.

Although it isn't hard to mod a Z06 so that it will dust a stock Ferrari or Lamborghini.

Sure you can, and that's one turd I would polish.

I love Ferraris and Porsches, but unless I were Bill Gates I would feel quite uneasy about dragging a $200,000 supercar out on track, and modding it would be prohibitively expensive.

With a Z06 those concerns are negated a bit, aren't they? A stock version of the one in the video can probably be had for less than 40 grand now, and with a little work will run around cars that cost four times as much. In that sense, it's a lot like an ITR, and definitely a logical step up for an ITR owner who wants to really run with the big boys. More so than an M3, for sure.

I'm still waiting patiently till I start seeing them for sell for around $30K with acceptable mileage.

I didn't intend to open that can o' worms. I'm pretty familiar with the bang-for-the-buck factor. I'd even agree that you get just as much performance for the dollar as the almighty R.

Corvettes are fun to drive. I had a 2001 C5 with a glass roof and 6spd. Surprisingly nimble and tons o' torque. Not really fuel efficent though.

 

I'd take the new zo6 over alot of those cars in that video.

 

aha yeah whatever. They obvioulsy werent racing. The only race i saw was couple of the ones with the Porsche. Im pretty sure the Gallardo and the rest toyed with him.

There's really no way to tell what the guys in the supercars were doing, and we also have no way of knowing what was done to the Z06. It's entirely possible that they were trying their hardest and the Vette won.

And why is comparing a Vette to an exotic a bad idea? Obviously you won't get the same level of fit and finish in a Vette that you do in a Porsche/Ferrari/Lambo, but you get similar performance. Actually, the 911 vs. Vette comparison gets done every few years in the major car mags, so it can't be that bad of a comparison to make.

In terms of "bang-for-the-buck," the Vette trounces those cars. It's in the same vein as the ITR, WRX, EVO, Lotus Elise...long on performance, short on cost. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to own one of those high-dollar cars, but as long as price is an object for me, I'll take the Vette with some motor work and a few sets of track tires.

Anywayz do you ever notice that all those magazines that do the comparisons are 99% American and they obviously do it to support their brand, same as with most rental companies.

Regarding the video, which i did not like and belive because to me thats the same as watching someone in a stock ITR beat STI, Cobra, Boxster, 330.

Yes, but we cant tell what those cars have done to them. That could be a twin turbo, supercharged, nos, vette, with factory upgrades such as muffler bearings, headliight fluid and turbo flux capacitor!!!!! And the exotics could just be stock. A modified hype r will **** all over a stock STI, Cobra, boxster and 330.

Turd polishing? You won't, WILL NOT, find a faster car around a race track for the money. PERIOD A used C5 FRC(now) or Z06(soon) will be the fastest car you can find that will be a track beast w/ only tires, pads and othert normal stuff that should be done on all tracked cars. Seriously, what would you buy to be fast around a track: a 20K s2k, used EVO, STi or a C5? Can't say their not reliable either cuz that LSx motor/drivetrain combo is ROCK solid.

The new Z06 ran 7:42's at the ring, no new car under 100K will do that.

Go sniff interiors somewhere else.

I totally agree. The old Z06 was almost as fast as the Ferrari 360 of its day, and the new car is going to be fierce. It has a freaking 427.

American magazines are written and published by Americans, so of course they are going to want to see their country's cars show up well. However, when they don't show up well, American writers are even more critical than foreign ones, because they recall the glory days of American cars and know that companies like GM and Ford can do better than they're doing now.

I don't think the results are biased towards American cars. If anything, people accuse Car and Driver/Road and Track of being in BMW's pocket, for whatever that's worth.

OK, now you're irritating me. There is no way to know what the Vette had done to it. You can make those motors shake the ground with hp, so it's not unreasonable to assume it may have had some work done to it which enabled it to stomp those other cars. Those Lambos and Ferraris are 12 and 13-second cars. The Vette is, too.

Am I the only one who saw the mod list at the beggining of the video?!??? We can tell what the vett has done to it....

 

We have everyone of those Ferraris at work except for the Dino and the Enzo... had 3 a couple months back....the Stradale is my fav though...
