How do u take off the shift knob from a 97 Civic Coupe?

Default How do u take off the shift **** from a 97 Civic Coupe?

Yeah, I've been wondering...but how do u take off the shift **** from my 97 civic coupe? it's uh manual trans of course hah...I'm planning on putting a Mugen or a Spoon Shift **** onto the car as soon as I figure out how to take off the stock one -_- I'd really appreciate it if u guys helped me out...thanks

lmao i tried twisting it off...mite be stuck? and yeah i juss started driving my EJ for about 1 month already...it's been sitting in the garage for 6 months....

give it a HARD twist. it might take a while. When I first got my ej8..it took a while for me to get it off.

Haha.. so this is what i've been missing in the EG forum lately... hmm

I've never had a problem taking a shift **** off, but I can tell you this:

if there is a short shifter on it, then the **** had to of been off at one point or another.. so it most definately can, and will, come off. I've also yet to see any type of shifter set up that does not allow the shift **** to simply twist off. sometimes there may be a screw also holding it on, but that's pretty rare.

Bottom line.. twist left.. if it doesnt come off.. twist harder(but dont break the damn shifter). If it doesnt want to come off, then find out if there is a screw either towards the base of the shift ****, or maybe the top of the shift **** pops off and there is a screw? i dunno what to tell you.. it's a god damn shift **** man. If all else fails, deal with your current shift **** and sell your jdm type-r **** that you got(or whatever it is).
