Info: I have (had) a 96 Civic EX. the motor just went about a week or so ago (80k miles and some change). Well we did a compression test and didnt look so hot. We where basically going to have to pull the motor to do anything with it because we think the rings went bad, and also, the head gasket blew. so i figured if i'm taking it out, i may as well upgrade. Or i could just have the motor tore down and re-built and my turbo put back on. I'd rather just swap in a new motor.
I had a few different ideas. Seeing as i live in PA and only have one set of rims and tires right now and cant really go anywhere in the snow, i figured i may as well just save my cash until spring. And either swap in a B18C1, B18C5, or K series.
Well, im probly only going to be able to swing a C1. So i was just wondering if anyones done a swap and how reliable it was for you before i go digging myself any deeper.
Thanks in Advanced.

my swaps been in since january and all the problems Ive had havents been related to the swap. So the swap itself has been 100% reliable. b18c1 is a good motor and theres a lot of info out there on it so you should be able to get it done properly so that reliable wont be a huge issue.
I'm sure most of the guys/gals in here have swaps in their rides. Every motor is different. Unless you know the condition of the motor via previous owner/driver... then you will be more rest assure than the majority of us that acquired a used one that is "supposed" to be in good condition.
