Default A/C Ice Cold...... 2 weeks later.... HOT

i turned my A/C on for the first time in 2 weeks yesterday.. i let it sit for a few minutes to see if it will get cold.. and nothing.. 20 minutes and its blowing HOT air out.. 2 weeks before it was blowing ICE cold air..

and now when i turn the A/C on, it idles at 1100 RPM's.. never did that before when it worked properly..

any suggestions or reasons why its doing this???

sounds like your comp just went out, sorry that sucks. You can take it to a shop and have the fill it with a dye that they can trace with a Black light to see where it is leaking. Just to make sure have someone turn on you A/C when you can watch the comp. and make sure the clutch is engaging

seriously?? damm.. so if the compressor is bad, that needs to be replaced? or could it be something else like leaking out somewhere?

can i just take out the compressor and the belt? anything else id have to take out?

just get the dye injected them you know exactly where its leaking, it could be anywhere, but you can check if the compressor is actually turning on by looking at it when the A/C is turned on. The clutch should lock up and make the pully spin, if not its just a clutch. The only way to tell for sure is to dye check it or with a "sniffer". What ever is leaking you don't have to take everything out just the part thats bad and get it recharged. Just be ready to convert to R-134a

i had that problem too a couple months ago on my gsr...ac just started blowing hot all of a sudden. but in my case what happened was, the power wire going to my compressor had slipped out, so the compressor just wasnt turning on at all. check the wires and make sure none of them are loose...

otherwise you might just have a leak in one of the ac lines...so have your refrigerant level checked and inspected for leaks like BlackLudeSi said...

If you look at the A/C compressor there is like a triangle metal thing on the outside of the pulley. That allows the pulley to spin and not engage the compressor. When you turn the A/C on that metal piece rotates by a magnet and locks the pulley to it so it spins thus cooling your air. If it is not engaging you won't have cool air. Have someone turn on your A/C while you watch it should click and start spining and if not...you have your problem
