Default H22 Civic...Pitch black plugs..Need suggestions!!!

Well i have a h22 in a civic, it runs terribly rich.i go through a full tank of gas in about 60-80 miles...I am running the p13 ECu with a CEL 12 for the EGR on. I am wondering if that code will make it run rich?
Also, to run the H22 injectors and stuff is there supposed to be a resistor box for them or no? I bought the car the way it is and i am just trying to get it to run right.
Will the B&M FPR for Civics and tegs fit the Prelude FPR? As of now, I am planning on changing the FPR, get a p72 ECu socketed and run uberdata or crome, and and maybe checking the O2, but the O2 might be fine since there's no CEL for the O2.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. I can't be driving 60 miles on a tank of gas.

so you dont have the resistor box wired in? What year is the motor and what year is the car?

Thats very bad. Get a resister boxon that ASAP. Yes, a civic FPR (b&m) will fit on your prelude FPR.

The resistor box is on there already but I'm not sure if it's wired correctly or not.
Are there any links that I can read that tells how to correctly wire up the resistor box?

How can I diagnose it to see if the resistor box is still good or not?

How do you tell if the distributor has an internal or external coiled? Does anyone know??

The car is a 95 Eg coupe and engine is 93 JDM H22.

Do you guys think it might be anything else that might be causing it to run that rich? ECU?

I bought the car with the swap already and am trying to get it to run right with slowsleeper. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

it has 12 volts going in, and then a wire going to each injector. you can test continuity from the resistor to each injector to make sure it is wired right.

test teh resistant ove each output on it.

well teh coil is either on the engine or in the distributor, jsut take a look at whether it has 4 wires on teh cap or 5...

it could be a lot of things, how well does the car run other wise? does its tumble, smell like gasoline, leak gasoline etc?

I'm not sure the B&M fuel pressure regulator actually lets you lower pressure any lower than stock, so if you are at a stock psi, you may want to try another brand.

you can mod the b&m to lower it too. http://www.theoldone.com/articles/regulator/

a 93 jdm h22 is internal coil stock. Look at the dizzy cap, if there are only 4 wires (one to each spark plug) coming out, then its internal. If there are 5, and one leads away from the dizzy, then its been converted to external coil.

What are all the parts might it might possibly be? I think the possibilities are just the resistor box, a bad fpr, maybe bad injectors, may bad ECU??? any more suggestions?

bad timing (ignition or cam) could cause a poor burn.
issues with the ECT can make for a very rich burn as well.
also knowing if you have stock injectors and stock program on the computer will help too.

have you had a chacne to test resistances yet?

The car runs fine except for the too rich part. There is a smell of gas though asit is running too rich. The ECU and injectors are stock from what the previous owner said. I havent tested the resistances but will try maybe this weekend.

would it be the map sensor even though there's no map sensor codes being thrown??

Well the car doesn't idle too well, it idles rough....the wiring on it doesn't look very professional either...The wires from the resistor pack leads to the injectors I believe...The resistance at the terminals on the resistor were ranging from 6.8-7.5 ohms...and the resistance on teh injectors were all in spec...My only guess is maybe its somewhere in the wiring thats why the car is running as rich as it is....what do you guys think?

Check your cap/rotor. Make sure the resistor box is wired in properly. Change the fuel filter as well.

Sounds like you're on the right track to eliminating the problem.
