Default Removing cruise control on 04 civic ex?

Is there a way to completely remove the cruise control system on a 2004 civic ex coupe. I don't use cruise that much. I figured it would be good to remove it to save some weight. I mean removing it as in the complete unit including the cruise button on the dash along with the buttons on the steering wheel. I want it to be as complete as possible that way i could sell the complete unit on ebay. That would also give me some extra cash to buy other stuff for the car. I would also be able to replace the cruise switch with the oem fog switch. As far as the steering wheel, would there be an open gap where i removed the button or will it still have a clean look like it came from the factory like that?

I don't think its really going to save much weight - isnt just buttons and a cable that goes to your tb? At least thats how it used to be on older cars... I'd just leave it.

ok, well if its not that much weight being saved, it's still ok. I just want it removed since i don't use it much. I would also like to replace the button on the dash with the oem fog button instead of putting it in the horizontal space above my cup holders. I would also like to remove it just to sell it. Does anybody know around how much a complete cruise control system would go for?

pry the plug out and put in the one you want. unscrew the buttons on the steering wheel, and unplug it behind the steering wheel. If you want the controller under the hood out, simply unplug it, remove the bolts and cable, and you're done. I'm not sure you can get the ENTIRE system out without some work, but you'll never know it was there.
