Default Separate thread: discuss Ninja 650R

Saw this bike in the other thread that Rainman posted, under the news about the ZX-10R.

http://www.kawasaki.ca/2006_mo....html

I guess Kawi decided the SV had the market on entry-level fun twins locked up, and it wanted a piece. I'm not surprised that they made the bike, but I am surprised to see a V-twin bike wearing the "Ninja" nameplate.

Anyone know anything more about this bike? I have a feeling we might see some in the MC forum soon.

It's actually a parallel twin. I like the look of the bike at first, two things I'd change though: clip-ons and a higher rear end.

Is it possible that the use of the banana seat makes the rear end look lower than it is?

One thing I loved about my K4 SV was the sexy swept-up rear end, and that didn't have a banana seat.

Just realized that's a Canadian site. Is the U.S. getting the Ninja 650R? I know Canadians get a nicer-looking version of the Z750S.

A nice solo tail would really help. I'm pretty sure it's coming to the US, they had the press release on Superbikeplanet.com

Hmm 8 valve parallel twin, steel frame and swingarm, horizontal shock. That's a werid choice but I wonder exactly how new that twin is. If it is anything like the GPZ500 engine or the ER5 its going to be very dull. 50HP?

It seemed like a much more promising bike in concept form...

but don't they all?
