Default Information about VSS

Im pretty sure my VSS is messing up considering my speedo needle will jump randomly from place to place and sometimes not even work period. The problem sometimes seems to fix itself as it does not always freak out like it does. So i have come to the conclusion that it is either a wire problem or the VSS itself. I have a 97 B18 swapped into my civic. Is the sensor for this fully electronic? or does it use a cable? im not quite sure some help would be apriciated on if it is electric or cable drawn and how to approach fixing the problem if it is not the VSS.
thanks

https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1364578 scroll down and you will see a pic of the vss. It's next to the back mount.

How did you clean the connectors? Usually it's a bad connection from the plug. Stick in a couple strands of wires in each and replug it.

sticking the wire in there cleans it or is there something more to it.
