I know there is two type of rear view mirror mounting on the windshield for 92-95 5th gen civic, one is held by a screw with a cover on it, another one is a slide-off type. Mine is a slide-off type but i made every effort and it just won't slide-off. I don't want to break it... Anyone has taken his mirror off please tell me how to do it

stick a long small flathead screwdriver up the bottom part of the metal slider. then hit the metal slider part lightly(dont hit the flathead) with a rubber hammer or the back of another screwdriver. it should come out thats what i did.

 

what if you accidentally break the metal plate the is stuck to the windshield? Is there any way of replacing that piece w/o replacing the entire windshield?
