Default F series transmission on B series block

would an F20C (S2000) transmision be compatable with a b series block? or even perhaps a K series. just wondering as i would much rather build a RWD honda then live with FWD anyday

Anything is doable with cash. But you will be paying 3 to 4 times a standard b-series swap easily to get that. I've seen RWD converted honda's where people have put more than $20,000 into them. Seriously think about that and then rethink honda's if RWD is a deal breaker.

F20c and K series trannies are designed to spin teh opposite direction as a D/B/F/H series engine.

true. you cant change the rotational direction of the motor. think about it, if you flip the motor backwards the tranny would be backwards too.

if you got real skills you can do a reverse rotation engine, but that is a lot of work, and i have only seen it on competition only cars in europe.

If anyone remembers the Apex tube frame DC Integra from like 2001--it eventually ran an 8.61 I believe. They used an X-Trac gearbox which required conventional (clockwise) direction. Apex turned the H22 they were using around, and reversed the direction of the motor with custom pistons and custom ground cams. In the BTCC series--some teams who use Honda motors--go as far as to turn the head around while leaving the block in the standard place. With the head turned around on a B or H motor--they can ram-feed the intake--because the plenum or ITBs will be facing the front of the car. The BTCC teams only go to such extremes because they have a limit of 2.0 liters and a max rev limit of 8500--which when you think about it--isn't really that high for an NA motor--they were getting about 315 crank hp. So 3-5 hp is worth chasing regardless of the cost to them which in the case of turning the head around--which probably required EXTENSIVE re-thinking and machine work--maybe up to $10k for all the man hours and labor involved in something like that. even Just something to think about.
