Well yet another problem with my 91 hatch. When in idle it makes a weird raddle noise, but if i hold in the clutch it stops. Also can't seem to get it all the way into 5th, wich caused white smoke to come out the back. Does anyone know if its my clutch, tranny, tranny fluid or what? Thanks for any help

 

i think the rattle is your throw out bearing going bad.

how would not being able to get it into fifth gear cause white smoke to come out the back?

 

I guess since i wasnt all the way in fith it was grinding the clutch or something. It goes but u can tell its not catching all the way.

lol....it almost shifts to 5th but u can tell its not all the way there. Today it went to 5th but it took a couple trys...this just started happening, had my car for bout 4 months.
