How to better your 330' mark?
I went to the track, it's a poor track at best, but it's close, and ran a new personal best of 12.2@117mph in my 4dr. I'm currently making 360whp/260ft-lbs tq from my D16Y8 and my car weighs about 2800lbs with driver.
I cut mid to low 1.8 60fts, but my 330' time can't better 5.5. I tried dual stage boost, but nothing seems to help much either way.
Traction set up:
Quaife LSD
23/7.5-15 M&H's
Drag springs in the rear
Poly inserts mounts.
What else can I do to help get be faster through the first half of the track?

How big is your turbo? If it is huge, then it may be due to lag. Do you have a 2 step?

It's big a for a D16, (FR T3/T61) but I didn't notice lag unless I didn't ride out 1st long enough. Most of the time i would spin abit through second gear. An no 2step, just launched it high and hard, spinning through 1st.
Could u post the complete timeslip? Like stated above I would look into a 2step. Does the car bog down when u go into 2nd? are keeping it in 1st long enough? There could be lots of things causing it.
Ya, no lag, car feels fast out of the hole, even tried ridding it off the limited more, bang second and keep on moving, the time slip just doesn't seem to reflect how it feels in the car.

1 -> 2 shift owns you...
That's what it looks like to me anyway. Either your shifting at the wrong time, or shifting slow.
I don't know how it would work for you, but I typically short shift the 1-2. 1st is basically just to get the car moving, 2nd gets it past the 60'. Doing that, I typically pull 5.0s in the 330' on high 1.7 60s on a car that is probably 400 pounds heavier but making similar power. My 60' time suffers from doing this becuase I shift before the 60', but my 330' times are a lot better.

8 grand redline, next time I wil try to ride out first longer and shift quicker. It's weird because there were times when I bogged second gear and times when I slammed second spinning through, and all 330' times were the same crappy 5.5's

Like was mentioned earlier, you may try a 2 step, and you also might want to try full throttle shifting. That's what I do and I'm cutting 4.80 330's with smaller 22"X8"X15" slicks.

330' is all about momentum coming outta first and power thrown at it in 2nd. Like Joe said, the 1-2 shift is probably whats hurting you. I was running 5.4's on drag radials w/ only 270whp and 2.0 60'.
I think most people make the mistake of holding 1st too long.
If you shift fast, you will stay in boost, even if your RPM drops below the RPM point where your car would make full boost rolling into it.
My car won't make 20 PSI until about 5600 in second gear if I roll on the gas at 3000 RPM. Yet if I shift quick out of first, my RPM will drop down around 4000 RPM but the car will maintain boost pressure. Getting it into second gear quicker will allow you to put the HP to the ground instead of having the lower 1st gear amplifying the already excessive level of torque into tire smoke.
A good 1 -> 2 shift will be almost indictable on video other then the change in engine tone. one thing that helps a lot is to watch video of your runs. Good video...from the launch area where you can see what the tires are doing and how the weight of the car transfers.

I have a few vids of the 12.2 passes, I will watch them to see what's going on. So from what people are saying, some like to short shift 1st, most like to allow your vehicle speed to catch up before shifting second. Just a note, I'm running on probably the worst track in North America, no prep, and we are lucky if they spray VHT every hour on a good day..
