xm / satellite radio antennae trouble
My girls got xm in her gti, and i tucked most of it in all under the passenger side seat. But somebody moved it and her antennae wire got chopped. So i cut it and cleaned it up, and spliced it together, but it doesnt work any more?
IS this some sort of special braided wire that cant be patched ?

There are two wires the "inside" one that has insulation around it, [call it the positive] and it has the braid around it, [call it the negative] they have to stay isolated from each other.
Cut back the outside insulation on both ends about 1.5" peel back the braid on both ends, cut the inside wire so it is about 1" long on both ends, strip a 1/4" of insulation off both ends, connect them together and solder them, the wrap the connection with a little elec. tape, fold one ends braid over the connection then the other ends braid over the first ends braid and connection, the braid should overlap each other but stay isolated from the inside wires connection, a little solder to connect the two braids together, [a drop will do] will make a better elec. connection, then wrap it all in elec. tape.
