Default Classification for a 99-00 EX civic

Hey guys, I'm doing some searching and contemplating building my civic for next season. Its a 99 civic EX coupe (stock motor), and the problem I am having is that in the HC rule books all I see is a slot in H5 for 92-00 civic (all) at a weight of 2000lbs. This wouldnt be where my car would end up is it?

And then in the SCCA rule books for ITA I see mention of the 96-98 civic coupes, but again do not see the 99-00 civic coupes. Would I need to get it homologated to run ITA? or should I look at trying to run in a different class?

I would also like to ask, without sounding like an idiot, what are some of the most competetive cars out there right now for classes like ITA, ITB, or honda challenge H4, H5? Would a 99 civic coupe be able to become competitive?

Sorry for asking questions that may seem stupid, but any help you guys can give is greatly appreciated.

I believe that your car is not listed in ITA because it is still eligible for Showroom Stock C, but I *think* that this is its last year of eligibility for SSC.

As the current rules are written, yes, your car would be classified in H5 in the Civic NOC category. With this being said, the car *should* be classed in H4 w/ the '92-'95 Civic Ex. Obviously, this car was overlooked by the HC rules committee for 2005, but I'm sure that they will address it for 2006.

As far as front runners in H4/ITA, the CRX Si and the DA Integra seem to be the dominant cars at the present time, but this is the first year for the '92-'95 Civic Ex/Si in ITA, so time will tell w/ this car.

As far as H5 goes, the '84-'87 Civic/CRX Si have proven to be the dominant cars, and these cars should also be competitive in ITB as well.

Just my $.02.

And to make sure the car gets added to the listing for similar year/spec cars in ITA, you will need to write a letter to the SCCA (don't recall the address, you'll have to poke around the website for the appropriate committee). They don't automatically add cars, even if they are the same (too many to keep track of, so they wait until people request an addition/change).

You should also send a rules request form from the HondaChallenge website to get classing for the car.

There are several cars that aren't classed. It would be a ton of (extra) work to class every model. We have, in years past, discussed the cars as they came into the series.

PS I know I have to look @ the excel sheet Cory. I am super sick & don't feel like doing anything.
