ls/vtec dowel pins
i have the golden eagle kit and it came with pins but i have a gsr head goin on a b18a and for some reason its really hard for them to mate together...is there anu other pins i can use like oem ls or oem gsr??
if you use the golden eagle dowel pins u need to use a vtec head gasket b16 bor gsr. and leave the dowel pins on the side they are usually on the head of a gsr. no drilling neccessary with the golden eagle dowel pins
yes i have everything i need gor the swap its just that the dowel pins it came with im having a hard time mating the head n block together its real hard...
i have had customers who have wanted to use their golden eagle dowel pins when they get the kit. i inform them that they are a tight fit and should drill out the head. And, only a handful of times have i been able to save the dowel pins when i have to remove them to mill a head.
If i were you, i would take the head to your local machine shop and have the 2 holes that LS motors use reamed out to fit regular OE dowel pins.

hhmm well they fit fine on the head its snug once it gets to the block...ive managed to mate them together but it was tough...and also once i torque the haed down it will clamp better to the block.........i dunno
i have the same problem also. can i used the ls head gasket. it does not seem to fit the ls head gasket when dowel pin are on the intake side. both bolt on good to the head and block. can i drill out the head gasket??
