Default carbotech brake pads

im looking at the application list for the carbotech pads.. my 1994 prelude is listed in the same category as 96 and 97's. then they have two different pads for the front:

F CT503
F CT568

which one should i use? and are these for the VTEC models? because im pretty sure the VTEC's had different rotors or calipers or something than the SI and S's.

I tied a set of these pads once. They grabbed ALOT in city driving.
They faded when pushed at hiway speeds.

NEVER do that! Brakes are to stop you, use them!! you are hurting your tanny/motor more downshifting..

I swear by carbotech pads, try the panthers... The 503 pad is for VTEC brakes (11.1" rotor).. The other for the S/SI brakes (10.3")..

i use my brakes whenever im stopping below 50mph. after that i downshift until im going about 40 then i apply brakes. i double clutch and rev match.. its smooth so i doubt its hurting much.

trust me, better to use the brakes, they are MUCH cheaper... I thought the same thing to at one time, I never do it now...

I always downshift (unless I actually mean to stop!) on the highway to slow down. I feel that if you can rev match well that you will be causing little to no "wear" on the transmission components. On the other hand, If you always use the brakes they will wear out quickly. It makes sense to me, but you need to be able to pull off REALLY smooth downshifts to minimize wear.. if you're dragging the clutch to slow down you're damaging it.

Which compound did you have, and how do you define "brake fade"? The Panther Plus will perform fade-free up to 1300F...it is impossible to even approach these temperatures on the street or highway...

Please provide details to support your statement of fade on the highway...

Corey is correst on pad designation here.

Brake pads DO NOT warp rotors. Uneven cooling and improperly torqued lug nuts/studs will cause a rotor to warp. Furthermore, differences in brake friction compound film transfers when switching from one pad to another will give a braking sensation of rotor warpage when, in fact, the rotors are not warped at all.

In all fairness to Andie, it was a while ago that I used the carbotech pads
(around the time that Grassroots Motorsports modified a Neon and used
carbotech pads). I don't know if their selection of pads or pad material has
changed over the years. I don't recall the 'Panthers' being available at the time.

I found the pads I had, worked as I described above. It wasn't the brake fluid
that was boiling as it was in good condition.

Comparing the pads I use today (Hawk HPS), to the carbo pads I used a long time
ago... I found difference.

Sounds like it was one of our street materials...and not the Panther Plus, which has only been around for about 1 1/4 years...

Try a set of P+ pads...people who switch from HPS or other street pads to the P+ all make statements to the effect of "wow...I almost put my face through the windshield."

old thread I know,

Will the P+ be too much for a daily driven Prelude with occasional track use? Looking to replace my fronts, should I get the rears as well? Thanks
