Default Rear quarter panel rust Question

I realy have two issues first being the rust and second being a crappy bondo job.

I have a 3-4 inch by 2 inches high rust hole in my passengers side pannel. I dont know how much more of it is rusted.

On My drivers side, the privious owner had a little body work, which include having the rear pannel bondo'd. It looks like the entire wheel well (at least the part that curves out over) has been bondo'd. Its BAD, i've never meet a bondo artist that could have made it look good.

To the point. Should I cut and bondo the rust or should I buy a new pannel and have it installed?
I was looking at getting the pannel for $395.19 from here: http://www.hondaautomotivepart...PANEL

My question is what is envolved with buying this and how much would it cost? Is it worth the money/time. I figured if I got one done I might as well do the other side.

Default Re: Rear quarter panel rust Question (GT_Alpha)

I recently had my car in the body shop to repair front end damage. The shop owner was friends with my father, so I got a really good deal. I asked them to give a quote on my rust on the rear quarter panel. My rust isn't even that bad, no holes through, but it's bubbling up, and they said it would probably be $300+ to fix it. Bare in mind, I'm getting a damn good deal at that price, so for anyone else they probably would have charged $500+. My friend just took his Integra in to get an estimate, $650!

So, I would say get the new body panel(s), and have them installed. It would probably end up being around the same cost, and you have brand new solid metal instead of patch work. I'm thinking about doing this myself

Does the gas tank need to come down for rear quarter panel rust fix?

I ask because I went to Maaco and the guy told me that the gas tank would need to come down in order for them to cut and weld for rust fix.
