Default 1997 Honda Civic alarm.. factory?

Hey guys I just purchased a 97 Civic HX and I have a question.

The car came with an alarm and/or keyless entry but I didn't get a remote from the seller. He also doesn't know anything about the alarm as he wasn't given a remote either.

So now I'm trying to figure out what kind of alarm it is so I can get a replacement remote for it.

I looked at the brain and could find nothing that said anything about the manufacturer of the alarm... so is this the factory alarm?

On the brain it says "Made in the USA" and has a flag on it (as seen in the picture I took). There is also a sticker with a barcode and some serial #s on it, but other than that, there is no other information.

I know that my sister's 98 Civic DX came with an optional Code (the brand) alarm. Not sure if all Hondas used Code alarms though but I don't think so.

Anyway if anyone can help me I.D. this alarm I'd appreciate it!

ps. sorry for the crappy pics, my camera sucks and the flash is broken (that's why i had to use a flashlight lol)

Pic of the LED

Not a dealer installed option, but as far as identifying the brand I'm of no help sorry.

I'm pretty sure no factory alarm included that little LED light. That's either an aftermarket alarm or a factory alarm, but the PO wanted the LED installed for him.

ah wel thanks for the reply so far guys

so we've established it's not factory.

probably some POS generic alarm.

i wanna buy one of those cheap ebay like this http://cgi.ebay.com/BRNEW-AVIT...wItem

i just want it for keyless entry. it's my daily driver and 100% bone stock so it's not really a target for theft or anything.

generally are the wire colors for alarms usually the same? i'm no expert in wiring but i can connect 2 wires of the same color together pretty well lol. i see that there are only a handful of wires going into the brain. if it's that simple i might just do that.

anyway what do u guys think of that alarm?

Wire colors may be similiar but most likely not the same. If your not familiar with what your doing here I would have someone install it for you.

sorry i meant that i won't be able to identify it since it's a pos generic alarm. i really don't care about brand or whatever.. just functionality. as long as it works and does it's job, i'll be happy. all i'm looking for is keyless entry.

Ex had keyless. Ive never heard of one not having it...though you learn something new everyday.
The green plug thats in the radio was the keyless harness.
Im sure if a remote was sourced and reprogrammed, factory keyless would work

</TD></TR></TABLE>Yeah the EX models came with it. I think someone just got confused because the origional poster has an HX if I'm not mistaken. You may still be able to get the dealer installed option keyless for your car. You would have to check with a local dealer on availability. But an aftermarket would be much cheaper. Viper makes some good alarms/keyless.

Well I couldnt stand the factory radio so I installed an aftermarket stereo. So there is no chance of getting factory working again. I did here about jumping two wires for the dome light but probably irrelevent. You guys think typical install for install on a viper $200-$300?

You can jump for the dome or just use a Y adapter harness and keep the factory unit behind the dash.
95% of the world does this
