Default Does this head have a bad valve?

I am looking to purchase this VTEC head for my 2002 Civic LX Turbo, but I am not too sure about the valves on it. It has one open valve and I was wondering if thats a bad thing or if you think it is fine. I thought it would ahve atleats 2 open at the same time, but I could be wrong. And does this head look like it is overall fine? Thanks for the help.

for a valve to stick out like that...the valve locks have give or retainer has broke or the valve has broke.that valve is sticking out like a sore thumb.

check the seat and see if it's ok...if it is just put another valve back in it and go w/it.let me know how it goes.

come on guys! think before you post. it's a single-cam head. the head was pulled without taking out the cam, which is still holding the valve open. i'm sure the head is fine

But only 1 valve is open, instead of both.

that is a vx cylinder head.(vtec-e) it only opens one valve until it hits vtec then it opens both, it does that to promote swirl in the camber allowing for a leaner mixture to burn.

It opens both, but one significantly more than the other.

There is nothing wrong with the head.

i love when people tht don't know **** about cars/engines automatically say that somthing is junk without actualloy using any brain activity what so ever.

the head should be fine. like the other dudes said, single cam heads un-bolt from the blocks without removing the cam.
