While I am driving over bumps I keep hearing a sound like metal on metal hitting against each other from the engine bay on the driver's side. At times I can even feel it on my feet when it hits . I checked all my suspension bolts and nuts and everything is tight . I heard from another member on here that it might have something to do with my tie rods. What do I check for that could cause this sound? Thanks in advance.

 

check to make sure that you don't have loose crap in the trunk and that your tire is securely mounted and that the jack is securly mounted.

If you have a hitch on the back like I do, it may be the exhaust banging against it.

 

the sound if clearly from the front of my car in the engine compartment and not in the trunk or the exhaust. I can feel it on my feet at times also when it bangs.

 

Also, my tires are all securely mounted so I know that is not the problem.

 

I took my car to a mechanic and he told me the sound is coming from my bottom sway bar bushings being worn out and there is too much play in there. Does anyone know what he is talking about?
