HURRICANE RELIEF IDEA
Hey guys,
I know there are a large amount of relief organizations stepping up to help the catastrophe here in Mississippi and Louisiana/New Orleans, but what I'm pleased about involving in are very targeted ones ... i.e. the Humane Society or Relief for Unemployed Restaurant and Bar Workers, etc,
Anyway, what about creating a donation link for riders who lost their homes, bikes, etc. ... true riders who lost it all and need some signs of support and encouragement?
I know there'd have to be some serious planning involved to make it happen efficiently, but please post on this with your thoughts, ideas and feedback.
Many thanks and God bless the folks down there in my backyard ... it is AWFUL. Flip through CNN or MSNBC and they still can't capture all the damage. We can help.

My thought is maybe for a starting point to check those listed as Gulf Coast, state-insured (legally mandatory) riders, and also to research rider associations and organizations. Like I said, tough deal, but damn, so is what they're all going through. I have "refugees" all around me here.
I also have publishing capabilities to send out flyers or whatever ... what do you think?

its definatly a good idea, but i think the best approach would be to donate to the Red Cross, where they can help right away and get exactly what is needed, and help the people as a whole.
but if you can set everything up and get 'er goin, more power to you

True. The magazine I work for is doing an effort itself ... 25% Red Cross, 25% Salvation Army, 25% Mississippi Bar/Restaurant Association, 25% Louisiana Bar/Restaurant Association, so maybe a split like that but with rider groups would work well.
At any rate, thanks for the encouragement so far and I'll get crackin'.
