Default Hondata 2 is in!!

All,

Got my Hondata 2 (P28 ecu, OBDii->OBDi conversion harness) today and installed it. Install was so easy I could do it! The only slightly trick part was running the lead to the interface box out of the ecu... I dremeled a little spot off of the edge of the ecu cover for it to pass through since I couldn't see how they did it in the instruction manual.

Even with a semi-generic base prog, the difference is night and day in how the car runs. No more cel's, hesistation, etc. Even idle is waay smoother. The only thing is my kick panel doesn't fit too well over all that stuff now, but I can live with it. I mounted the interface box directly onto the ecu with 2-sided tape since I couldn't see anywhere else to put it.

Now, what do I have to do to get rid of the Field unit? It's turned off right now. I tried unplugging it completely and that was bad. Good thing I tried starting the car without it before I spiked the Field unit in the parking lot.

Yeah, I'm going to dyno and get a full custom program sometime in the next couple months. Podium Performance is about a half hour from me, so I'll probably be going there. Last time I dyno'd with zero tuning and the car definitely not running right I put down ~175hp, 120tq

I got a chipped P28 ecu, base program to my specs, OBD2->OBD1 conversion harness and Hondata 2 from Brian at Prospeed for under 900 shipped. I'm not sure he'd want me posting the exact price so I won't.

Once I got the package, the only tricky part whatsoever was running the lead to the interface box out of the ecu... I dremeled a little spot off of the edge of the ecu cover for it to pass through since I couldn't see how they did it in the instruction manual. All instructions are available fon hondata.com. After that I simply removed the old ecu and plugged the new one in, mounted the interface unit with some 2-sided tape, switched off the Field SFC/VTEC controller and the car ran beautifully.

Was your P28 already socketed so that it could accept the burned chips with the new maps?....or did you do that yourself!

Yeah, the chip came socketed and with a base map (set up to my parameters) plugged in.

I barely trust myself to solder two wires together.
