Yeah...go with the cheaper...then slap a K&N on that bitch you'll be good!

honestly i wouldn't give the cops a reason to make u go to a ref stations, and i am sure that any sort of modification in the good old USA will need some sort of carb sticker but that is just my 2cents, like having piece of mind!

Get good Filter, AEM or K&N and get this cheap pipe. will work fine! But, I have AEM long pipe and I have to say -- this is a nice feeling when you open the hood and see cool stuff there!
yeah how does the carb sticker make it street legal tho does it make it loud without one or something?? i dont really understand?? and i bought a pipe and filter from dynasty auto so when that comes in ill be installing that in my car, but i dont understand what the carb sticker does???? i knwo you say it makes it street legal but how???
CARB = California Air Resource Board
only necessary in california. in other states there might be something else. but yeah, it's just a ******* aluminum tube. pisses me off that they charge $200.

it just says that the intake will allow the car to be emisions legal.. and it will pass smog, with other cheap immatations you wont, in some cases.. and another thing your paying for the name basicly when you go with aem, but its worth it..
i run a stock intake on my teg with everything south of the air cleaner box removed. i've had several intakes on that car in my time and stupid me sold the best-performing of the bunch on a whim, and now i don't feel like finding another one. BTW, the best performer was an ebay special (front-mount intake, hehe), looked super rice, and gained 9whp on a warm day over stock. never tried an AEM cold air though.

Lol.
The difference between brands like AEM/Jackson's/$20 E-bay intake is the shape of it, some help boost HP/MPG more than others, and some like J's whale ***** help create pressure and a constant flow of O2 to the engine.

which is yet another reason why i run a stock one (minus the baffling junk)

Alot of what you are paying for with brand name intakes in the research they put into that product. I seen a artical where a short ram R/S akimoto made more power than a AEM CAI on the top end (on a B16A), but the AEM CAI made better midranger power on the same motor. I would not get a cheapo for a couple of reasons.
1- it's a cheapo
2- 40 bucks more gets you dyno proven performance with a AEM short ram or R/S akimoto or a 100 other proven brand names.
I've learned this next statement the hard way.
Save a buck today, just to spend twice as much tommorrow!!!
In other words I've spent more replacing cheapo brands with something decent. do your research and buy once.

boy is THAT the truth!
but on the subject of cold air's midrange vs. shorty's top end i'll take the midrange any day! first off you'll use it more often, second it will make the car feel faster than a top end gain, and third in general it will make for more area under the curve in the first place, which is always good. of course, if you're into heading off to the grocery store bangin' gears at 8000rpm, then the top end gain will be minimally faster.
then again, the gain of a shorty isn't really worthwhile unless you're seeing more like 9000rpm, so i've heard (from people who say they "know", you know?).
