Default New 2006 Civic More Powerful?

I'm looking into the new 2006 Civic and wondering if anyone had opinions to share about the i-VTEC engine? It is said to acheive more powerful performance as well as improved fuel economy. I work for Honda, so as I was browsing the site I was excited to see the redesign of the whole Civic lineup! The new styling and package (including xm radio/6 speakers -yay!!) really sparked my interest; I'm just not too savvy on engines and I could use some help finding out more about the performance of this car.

Also, if anyone could point me in the direction of some better pictures that would be great I'm currently at newcivic.honda.com and I'd like to see some more pics! Thanks

Yeah except im pretty sure they wont be rolling off the factory floor with that intercooler

Personally the way they placed the exhaust in the middle ruins it for me.... makes it look like the cars arsehole

they're not like that. In the new motor trend they have an actual picture of it, and the exhaust is just like all other civics, to the right and under the bumper.

that center exhaust was for the prototype only, not for the production model.

I was so relieved when I saw that it was a normal exhaust and not the center mounted one.

edit:
also I don't like the fact they need premium fuel and are rated at 22 city / 31 highway mpg. manufaturer estimated curb weight = 2900 lbs

They're rolling off the floors with K20's and 200hp stock.

I mean, what do you do when the word "swap" doesn't exist yet?

Well it IS a K20, so Premium I can understand.

22mpg? Why am I not finding these numbers anywhere?

6-speed anyone? I agree, the car is way to heavy and the 18's need to go, but a factory 6-speed is a first and I like it.

Do you people read any of the recent Magazines out or even been in the General Discussion forum?

The new Si doesnt look like the Si Concept.
It does not come with 18's
Heres the link: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1359639

Also the power-to-weight ratio is comparable to the EM1. So all this talk about being slow n heavy is wasted time.

What about the regular civics? I heard they were getting a 140hp 1.8 liter engine.

Those are the 1st detailed pics I have seen.... It looks good, kinda a mix between the rsx n the new accord.
I dont think its going to be too slow either n i am very happy that the exhaust sits the way it should

yes they are slightly more powerful
but thanks to excellent honda engineering they have bigger engines, more power AND better gas mileage
30 city / 40 highway
1.8 liter
140hp (depending on model like LX/EX)

Actually, most of us don't go into GDD because there is never really a whole lot of tech in there. I can BS with my friends, and I don't need a forum to do it.

As far as the power/weight ratio, I never said anything about it, but if it does come in anywhere near 2900 lbs (which according to the sticker it does, that is still heavy for a Civic no matter how much power it has.

Not to mention my main point was the fact that it has a 6-speed which I want for my car.
