Searched and found this thread https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1124618. But in some other threads ppl said that you need the 99-00 radiator support for the front end to line up perfectly and then some don't? Also some say that all you need is the 99/00 Hood, lights, bumper, fenders. Any one else done it recently?

 

do a little more searching(or even read the rest of that thread).plenty of people have done the conversion and kept the 96-98 support.did it myself,no problems.not worth it to swap them unless it's been damaged anyway.

Did yours just a pretty much "bolt-on"? No cutting/grinding?

 

U got everyrthing just cut off the two tabs in the way.

 

All 99-00 Conversion's i've seen on 96-98 rad supports look like junk, there's gaps everywhere. My friend has a 97 Ej8 with a full 99-00 front end including rad support. And everything fits beautifully.

yes,it bolted on.the only issue was with the bumper where it doesn't bolt to the rad support correctly at the one spot,which is outlined in pretty much every thread about this.it's no big deal,and not detectable at all,unless you have the hood popped and know where to look to see it.
the one i did,along with many others i've seen using the old rad support,fit perfectly.the basic dimensions of the two supports are the same.using the 96-98 support will NOT cause the panels to not line up correctly.
careless fitting/not taking the time to properly fit the panels/using aftermarket panels or lights are what causes poor gaps and fitment.
just because your "boy" gotz a conversion that looks like junk,did you ever think that maybe it's because he has no experience at all doing this type of thing and did a half-*** job?

I don't know anyone personally that has done this so that's why I'm asking so many questions if I plan on doing this.

That's a negative sir. 96-98 core support right here. I bet your friend used aftermarket fenders, hood, etc.

Thanks man. Just use all OEM parts, should not have any problems. I'm very critical of my car... if it didn't look like that with 96/98 core support, it would've been swapped out for 99/00 core support. But it fits well according to my high standards.

Well, you just gotta either cut the tabs on the bumper where the grill is or cut into the bumper.. that's what i did. Not that hard at all.

Looks really good. Most I see look like garbage. But no, my friend was involved in an accident, so everything was replaced with 99-00 Si Parts all OEM Honda.

Maybe that's why.. his frame might have alignment problems. I know plenty ppl who still retain 96/98 core support with 99/00 conversion

Sorry i can't take pix. That would require me taking off my bumper. When my headlights come in.. I'll have to remove the bumper to install them, so I'll take pictures then of the modification. it's really easy and nothing complicated at all

Buy oem and you'll be able to keep the existing rad support without any fitment problems.
