i bought a swap almost a year ago. and just recently i've been able to drop it in. a friend of mine says there could be rust if the motor hasn't been started for 2 months. he suggest that i pull the motor apart and have it cleaned. what are the chances of rust build up on a sitting motor?

 

Not likely for 2 months, was the valve cover taken off when it was sitting

 

was the motor sitting outside with everything open to the rain, like no spark plugs in? if so there could be rust on the rings but I dont know many people who store motors like that. and honestly I have never had a problem with any standing motor. Try cranking it over by hand and still if anything holds up.

 

it was just sitting in my garage. with the valve cover on and the spark plug wires in tact. i think he thought i left it out in the backyard or something.

 

You should be ok.

 

2 months, garaged? you'll be fine.
