Default 1994 Accord, questions, Hesitation, Door, and removing the factory deck.

I just purchased a 1994 Honda Accord EX for 3000$. I used to have a 93 civic, that was sweet, but someone t-boned me, and screwed me on the insurance, anyway, to keep this topic related.

A; how do you take the factory stereo out of these? It looks like it just pulls out, as there appears to be no screws holding it in.

B; When driving, around 1500-2100 RPMS there is a hesitation. If I give it the gas hard, it will not do it. Plugs and wires and cap were replaced at 150K miles.

The car has 156K on it. My guess is the EGR needs cleaned up, or maybe a dirty injector, however, I'd rather ask people who probably know more than me.

C; the clip that goes to the outside door handle rod, won't stay in. It obviously needs replaced. Over the phone, when Ic alled and said I couldn't get the door open, the honda dealership said it would take about 2.5 hours to remove the panel, and 168$ for a door assembly...

I got it apart in 10 minutes, and the door assembly works. I have it now, working on the inside only, cannot use the outside because I cannot seem to find that plastic piece, ANYWHERE. (I guess no one wrecks 94-97 accords) and have to keep the window down, to prevent the outside rod from falling in and messing everything up. The previous owner (contacted through the lot) said he had to repair this once before also.

Is this a common problem with 94 accords?

The car is a 1994 Accord EX with 156K miles on it, 2.2L Vtec, auto.

you will need to remove the bezel that surrounds the radio, the clock, the hazard switch and the shifter....
first take off the center armrest, screws under panel inside the compartment of the armrest, then take the screws out the are hidden that hold the black plastic bezel which were otherwise hidden until armrest removal. remove the ashtray and remove the screw hidden behind the ashtray. then carefully pull the bezel up and out, it is just clipped in....be sure to unplug the clock and the hazard switch, then the screws holding the stereo should all be visible...

the problem with your door, i had something similar. i took the door panel off and super-glued/epoxied the plastic piece and the rod. i would just buy the plastic piece from honda, so its new

Yeah, I was thinking about the epoxy solution, because if it doesn't work, I'll have to buy a new door handle anyway (to get the part from Honda, I've got to buy the whole handle) and if it doesn't work with the epoxy, the epoxy will have probably bitched up the handle enough, that I'll need a new one anyway.

I put some fuel injector cleaner in the tank, and ran it 220 miles, maybe it's too early to tell, but it hasn't helped the hesitation. It's like, it's not an all of the time thing, but right around 1500-2300 RPMs, when acclerating there is a hesitation, and if I gas it hard, it quits, and goes like normal.

Stereo in. The process was as easy as you said.

Open arm rest. 2 screws.
Remove ashtray, 1 screw.

Pull up arm rest, 2 screws holding the "black dress face" one.

5 screws, pull up and out. Remove the 2 screws that hold the stereo in place.

Buy mounting kit. Mount, assemble, done.

Thanks

I put some fuel injector cleaner in the tank, and drove for about 80 miles. No improvement yet, but you usually don't know until half-3/4 a tank with that.

Anyone have any ideas on the hesitation?
