2003 is the Last Year?
I doubt 2003 will be the last year of production for the s2000...it costs millions of dollars for the tooling costs alone, not to mention all the R&D that went into the car. Honda Motors is a corporation, they are in the business of making money, and they will continue to manufacture the S2000 and make money to recoup and profit from the S2000...
I think they will keep making it, but it has to be redesigned sometime. Will they keep the car's character? Or will they follow the pattern that the used with the new Integra/Civic, making the engine bigger and lower-revving, and the body heavier and bigger? Even worse - a 4-seat, V6 S2000? yuck. Let's hope they preserve the spirit of the car the way it is now.
Actually the S2000 was considered a small production limited run car. Honda said this from the start and every dealershp I have talked to (about 5 in total) has said that 03 was the last year that honda has said they will sell them. In the US is one of the only places that the S2000 took off. In Europe they did not do so good and we ended up getting some of the ones that were originally set aside for them.
That's a shame.
Chris, who knows you're full of it.
I've heard they are going to merge the S2K with the minivan platform and only offer it with automatic transmission in beige color.

Honda will not kill off the S2K for 03, it will however be redesigned and offered as the S2000 and the s3000, powered by a 3.0L or 3.2L V6. Or at least thats what i've heard
I'm JUST at the point where, if I sacrifice, I could swing an S2000.
BUT, I'd like to put this off a couple years and either score a sweet used one (fat chance!) or a new one after I've saved some more.
But, Honda better not ruin it by doing goofy stuff to the design. Can you see the S2004 based on Civic and CRV parts ... Macpherson struts and all???

Come on guys don't eat dealer bs. Most cars are on a 5 year cycle. The only ones that are not are cars that sell so slow that it would cost the company less to discontinue them. Honda spent a pretty penny on developing the S2K so it would be stupid of them to stop making it after 2 or 3 years. Besides, Honda is not in the business of making exclusive cars. If they were, the NSX would only have been sold for 3 years. Car dealers only tell you that garbage to justify their price gouging, plain and simple.
Now, after 5 years the S2000 may not return. It could be replaced by a lower priced roadster like an S1600 or it could be replaced with a RWD coupe or sports sedan. But of course at this point it is pure speculation. I think this will all depend on what is Honda's performance lineup at that time in that price range.
Until then, kindly tell car salesman why they are wrong and that they should not spread baseless propaganda.

And as for the 5 year?? Noper, it's Usually four years with Japanese cars.
If any of you rmember back before the S2K was even introduced there were concepts of 4-doors and hardtops. I wouldn't doubt that honda atleast redesigns the S2K for 2003 simply because it is their flagship car and what many people will use to identify honda as a sporty name so they need to keep it new and updated. Of course with hondas ever increasing "Green" image it may end op being an electric hybrid.
