Default Surveliance Law Guidelines

i just put up a video surveilance in front of my home with a solid view of my front lawn..

half my driveway..the sidewalk..and the street..it was the best angle to catch any sort of vandalism on my car...

the thing is..hypothetically..if i were to catch someone doing it..do i need a clear face picture?..or does anybody really know the guidelines to these sorts of things...in a sense..im expecting another vandalism episode...but im ready this time...its anight..so i got a night vision cam....yet the face seems blurred..but you can get a good description of body and movements...

any help would be appreciated in regards to this hypothetical situation..

allow the surveliance to be seen from your bedroom. Purchase an alarm and shotgun. If ou hear the alarm, check the surveliance and run out in your little sponge bob boxers carrying your shotgun. If he's still there, hold him there if he runs, shoot him in the leg, and hold him there.

or just get any gun or even a fake gun and do the same thing, and then set off a line of firecrackers and let your neighbors call the police

i dont think i can get a hold of a shotgun or any kind of gun...my family probably wont allow me to purchase one either..although i do have spongebob boxers...

my main reason for wanting surveilance is for proof with police and the judge when i prosecute..not to know if someone suspicious is there..although this is also helpful...

i don't believe you're allowed to use "excessive force". Your life isn't in danger, so I don't believe you'd be able to get away with shooting someone.

i doubt the airsoft guns would be powerful enough to stop a theif. They can cause bruises at close range though.
