I have a 97 accord with 90K - Auto Trans. Lately the car has been dying on red lights or when I put it in P. In both cases the P light is on in the dash and D4 is blinking at the same time. The lights on the shifter go out and Check engine light went on. Took it to my mechanic and he said its code PO700. I dont know what exactly this code means but he said that tranny needs to be rebuilt and its going to cost $1800, which I thought was rediculous since Ive had no problem driving and just had all tune up and belts changed. Can someone consult me on whether there is something I can do myself to reset the CEL, if not whats a reasonable price to pay for fixing the tranny.
