CRX big brake suggestions?
I hope I'm in the bling section... Wilwood seems to be in the lead with 12.2" rotors and $795. also looked at brembo $1950 (too much) and Rotora at $1400. getting the 11" inch conversion kit seems to be out because the integra calipers are just too ugly (that bar thing that goes underneather the caliper) Has anyone found anything else thats at least 11" without taking out a second on my house?

I agree.
Some people will tell you different. Some will tell you bigger isnt always better.

it isnt. tires are the last thing thats going to save your ***. as it is now I can lock up all 4. Lose grip with those tires, brakes dont mean ****.
but I would look into the EX upgrade.

you cant have one thing without the other!
just like big cams dont do much without an intake mani / TB. </TD></TR></TABLE>
yep,
though back to topic,
11in EX upgrade would be the best bang for buck. 11in rotors on our cars is more then enough. get some nice rotors and some nice pads. some sticky ickys, and you should be fine.

Luckly found 90-91 EX knuckles.

As you can see im using 88 crx si brake line and it wont even reach the knuckles i assume that i need type R brake lines for the front.

here is close up

had to do little bit of grinding til the rotor wont touch the caliper bracket
[IMG][/IMG]
This upgrade cost me $250 just for parts including drilling out the rotors (drill press /charged me $15 for each rotor.
Over all the braking much better. I think this was worth it

Poorly designed big brakes for the front only are worth nothing.
If you increase your stopping power offered by your front brakes alone you will simply lock-up the front tires at a lower brake line pressure. If the line pressure is lower before lock-up your rear brakes will do LESS work as they are now at a lower pressure as well. Less work done by the rear brakes and the same work done by the front brakes means LONGER stopping distance. That is the theroy behind bigger brakes being worse. Many other factors also come into play.
Now if only someone had actuall test data.
Enjoy your bling'in calipers!

im using the fastbrakes bracket, with 11" VW corrado rotors, and integra/prelude calipers
i have a set of itr calipers here too, i will be using thos instead once i modify the bracket so more of the pad sits on the rotor.
the itr/vw rotor w/ fastbrakes bracket will require a 16" rim, unless u modify the bracket like we are to move it under a 15" rim. Also to center the rotor between the pads ull either need a 1/16" shim, or to remove 1/16" from either the bracket OR the caliper bracket. Personalyl id take it out of the bracket.
itr caliper

this is how much of the pad is off

this setup actually almost fills out a 17" rim, 1" to the inside of the wheel from the caliper
and here is the prelude/integra brakes
no shimming needed for this setup
