Default Question #1,938,392,939

So I'm getting close to the 100,000km mark and I'm thinking its time to clean the injectors. Now is it just as good to buy the cleaning solvent that you stick in your gas tank or is it really worth paying the dollars and having someone take them off and hand clean them?

I think RC will clean and service them for about $25-30 a piece, if you can put up with the down time.

Zygspeed had them done at one point, I think.

is 100,000 clicks of hard driving about the right time to do it? Because I put good quality gas in (91 octane or better) this helps to minimize deposits...but is this enough?

I had RC clean the ones from my previous ITR @ around 86K miles.
RC provides a spec sheet with their service, and it indicated that 3 of them were fine at a flow rate of 238-239 cc, whereas the last one was initially down to something like ~184 (substantially off the mark).

I'll leave you to your own conclusion(s). Ed

Thats pretty cool of them to do. I usually throw in a can of BG 44K, that seems to work well for me.

Im at 90K and as far as I know the injectors have never been cleaned. I'm getting a suprising 36 mpg highway at decent speeds with accesories on and whatnot.

I use Chevron Techron fuel injector cleaner about every other oil change though, not sure whether it actually has helped or anything but it put down good numbers on the dyno considering the higher mileage and whatnot. (bone stock too).
