just bought new header....only has one o2 sensor spot...lil confused....help
i have a 97 civic 1.6 non vtec and i just bought a new header 2 put on my car.....the header only has one o2 spot and i was wondering which o2 sensor need to go into it....the first or second......also i was wondering if this will throw any CE lights
Yes it will throw a cel, you need to get another o2 bung welded in so both are in there. Another option is to just put in the primary o2 sensor and get an o2 simulator for the secondary.

I would recommend going to a muffler shop and having a 2nd o2 bung welded in though. It's cheap and only takes a moment. Just make sure the primary o2 is in the current bung.

Yes, plug in the primary (the one before the cat) I'm assuming you have a 96-00 Dx, so it will be the one right on top of the oe exhaust manifold. If you don't plug in the secondary, you will get a cel, but it will not affect the cars performance at all.
Is thisafter you installed the header? If so (i'm not sure what that code is) but it will throw a code because the ECU doesn't see the "cleaned" exhaust coming out of the cat via the sensor.
Can you confirm this WAS your old header/cat from your DX?

If so, the aftermarket does not include a cat. You will have to buy a 96-00 EX cat and place it under your car further down the header. Your primary o2 goes on your header on top and the secondary needs to run after your replacement cat.

yeah that is my cat for sure. I am thinking about leaving the cat out....and getting a sim....will that help to loose the CE light if i use only the primary and sim the secondary?
oh yea and i have a CX NOT a DX if that makes a diff...prolly not

from what I hear, o2 sims are a hit or miss kind of thing. Some people swear by them, and others cant ever get them to work right. Without a cat, you can still run a second 02, but you need to move it farther down your exhaust where its readings will be far enough off the primary o2's readings.

^^Yes that is the idea. Be careful for emissions purposes if you decide to take the cat out. If you are planning on getting a header then be sure and get a high flow cat to put further down your exhaust to stay emissions legal

^^Another option
^^Another option
like 10 bucks go to shop and have bung welded make sure they do it at the correct depth to high or low will mess up the sensor

slightly, but it'll also make your exhaust sound raspy too. Not worth it IMO.
