Most "brand name" alarms are good, and are the best bang for the $, because of the lifetime warranty that you get with them, http://www.dei.com makers of Clifford, Viper and others are good ones and so is http://www.compustar.com, both make very good dependable alarms, alarm/starters and starters with lifetime warranty's, [if you get them and have them installed at authorized dealers.

BTW it's not so much the alarm you get as the installation of the alarm that makes it a good system, and the best defense is a layered system alarm, kill and bypass relays and switch's, some controlled by the alarm but others, [layers] controlled independent of the alarm, some active, [you have to turn them "on"] and others passive, [they will turn themselfs "on" and you have to turn them "off"] 94

Hey I am an installer at Best Buy it does have a lot to do with the installation but only go with a DEI alarm VIPER CLIFFORD, etc. . . the compustar is a peice of crap, DEI is the only way to go I have put them all in. . . best bang for the buck is a CLIFFORD ARROW 5 around $160.00 and a proximity sensor around $60-80, and a good installer and your will be good to go. . . all the LCD alarms tend to be peices of **** because they use all of the money in the LCD, and none in the technology of the alarm, they are usually the companies most basic model alarm with an LCD screen on it if you want the best of the best CLIFFORD Avante Garde 5 full featured and comes with every important option you will need. . . Need to know anything else PM me

Compustar does one thing, it makes alarms, remote starters and alarm/remote starter combo's and that's it, on the other hand DEI is a company who buys up alarm companies and car audio companies, [like Orion, PPI, ADS] they also have there "own" lines like Audio essentials, [ car audio cable, wire and connectors and things] even home audio, [ Definitive Technology].

Now like I said the DEI alarm brands are good dependable units, [I have been installing them for a long time, long before there was DEI, I have been installing Compustar ever since it was available in Canada and I would put any Compustar up against any DEI unit anytime, under any condition, and the Compustar would walk all over the DEI unit on all points. 94

what the hell do you mean LCD are POS. They are great cause they page you when alarm is activated and lets you know the status of the system. Go with a two way paging alarm from DEI. They make the best security stsyems around. Dont ever go with codealarms from ciecuit city they suck ***.

We carry both DEI and Compustar at our store, and as I said DEI is a good product, but I would put Compustar's entry level alarm/remote start up against the, and I have corrected you on your other post, Avantguard 5, or any other DEI alarm any day of the week.
As for the performance of 2way alarms alarm/remote starts, maybe you have a problem with them, not because they are "garbage", but you just don't know how to install them properly, or ma b wen u vas a little child u hav de bad experienc vit one, und now u haf a fear ov tem. @%*^!%#* vat dus tis lok lik to hu. 94
