Don't laugh... Problem replacing headlight bulb. Help?
Okay. I feel like a dork, but I need help.
The driver's side headlight bulb went out and I am TRYING to replace it.
I have a 1991 Accord EX. I can't get teh damn retainer ring to turn counter clockwise. Is there a trick to this? Do I have to press in or something?
Thanks

I'm trying to remember how the 91's worked. IIRC you have to squeeze the ends of the ring together because there's a clip holding them.
I got sick of trying just about everything I could think of, so I placed a screwdriver in onw of the grooves and poped it a few times with a hammer. It came loose! Even better, after I replaced the bulb it snapped back on!
I might have broken something in the process, but the bulb is in there firmly and that's all I care about right now.

For others who may read this thread, 99% of the time it is the bulb itself that inhibits the retainer from spinning off easily. For example, watch how easy it is to spin that retainer on and off without a bulb in the headlight. Next time push the bulb in as far into the headlight as possible (use something gently for leverage if necessary) as you spin the retainer off with your free hand.
Then again, if you break the retainer, at least its cheap.

Yea, these were quite the pain in the butt. The 94-97 are a bit better....

You're probably going to have to take them off a set of busted headlights. I don't know if they sell those separately.
