Replacing valve seals
I have a 95 accord with a jdm h22a. The valve seals are shot really bad so im going to be replacing the vavle seals asap. Is it a common problem for the valve guides to get worn down and thats why h22's burn oil? Also, when i replace the valve seals im not going to remove the cylinder head(or i dont want to at least), so do you guys think that i can just put the piston at TDC and have the valves rest on the piston when i remove the keepers? I know about the rope trick but i was just wondering if just resting the valves on the piston would be possible becuase it would be alot easier. Please, any info on this task would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

I do believe you can pressurize the cylinder with compressed air and the valves will stay in place. I could be wrong. but I remeber this being mentioned.

High mile H22's tend to show wear on the exhaust guides. Replacing seals may be enough to stop oil consumption, but if you pull the head later for a rebuild make sure to check the guides. Yes, you can put the piston at TDC and do 8 valves, rotate the crank and do the other 8. I've installed valve springs this way without removing the head. When re-installing your springs, the new seals should have plenty of tension/friction to hold the valve up while you install the keepers. Good luck.
On my h22, to replace the valve seals will i need to remove the camshafts? Also if i do are there any new parts i should replace with taking off the camshafts??( like are there any parts that can only be torqued down 1 time then should be replaced with parts from honda??)

Umm, you will have to remove a lot of things. . . Are you sure you want to do this yourself? It will require some "specialized" tools as well.

Ive done a lot of high maintenance work on my dsm, and my turbo mr2's that ive owned. I know that i can do it no problem but i was just wondering if i were to take the cams off if i were to need to get any new parts from honda that were recommended.
