Default installing axles after dropping b-series motor

Have you guys removed the center ring in the hub and the dust seal on the outer joints of the axles? How do you remove them? As quoted from the HAsport site:

"For a good fit, the axles and car will have to be modified by removing the spacer in the hub and removing the dust seal on the outer joint."

I just took a hammer and a chiesel, got someone to hold the shaft in place being carful not to dislodge the inner joint and tapped it until it came off, same with the hubs, you shouldn't have to use excessive force, just a few taps
