Default just got 05 si! tranny question, please advise!

is it normal for the tranny on an ep3 to feel maybe a lil resistant when its brand new and over the break in time it should get smoother? and does anybody have any problems with their reverse not engaging when you want to put it in gear? thanks

There is a burnishing process for the gears if its brand new give it time, also the rsx/si 's do tend to be a different feel than prior years. you get used to it they kinda hit something then grab the shifter into the gear.

Default problems w/Reverse in k-series transmissions?

i have really been having trouble ever since i got my car with only 60 miles on it, i now have 700 miles on it, and every time i go to shift to reverse it usually goes right in, but not so smooth as 1st 2nd etc. gears go in. and sometimes it wont go in, it feels like if it hits a friction point that it wont go in and you have to go back to neutral and then attempt to shift again, any body help me on this? anything yall mite know, like a recall for this, or tsb or something? and yes i do know how to drive manual or else i would list something out of the ordinary.

i believe the reason going into reverse is harder on ALL cars, is because its a straight cut gear, so it doesnt slide in smooth. Also, its normal for it not always to engage in reverse, just let it roll a bit forward, then it should work.

if you're afraid for that grinding feeling to happen when you put it into reverse, before you do that... put it in 1st and 2nd gear to test it out and then go into reverse, it should be smooth then, i had the same problem. every morning i do that just so i can avoid the grind. hope this helps!
